As part of our comprehensive Enrichment programming, Upper School students can choose to attend the HMS MEDscience program. This initiative is designed to inspire our students to learn without limits and engage in science through hands-on experiences. Their unique curriculum is designed to teach students about the human body and expose students to careers in STEM.
Fieldwork at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) provides opportunities for students to connect with the art and cultures of Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas through engagement with the MFA collections. Codman Academy works closely with museum instructors to design customized visits that fit the interests and needs of each grade level. Each visit combines a gallery tour with an art-making activity in the MFA art studio.
Epiphany is an independent, tuition-free, middle school for children of low-income families from Boston neighborhoods. Located within blocks of Codman Academy, we utilize their gym and work closely to support their alumni who attend Codman.
Over the past ten years, Codman Academy has sent several students and staff delegations to the LEAP Science and Math School, our partner school located in Cape Town, South Africa, for service learning expeditions. In 2009, Codman hosted a delegation of students and staff from the LEAP School; our South African guests delivered a presentation to the entire school at Community Circle. The LEAP program, which was established in 2004 to address the inequities in South Africa’s education system, consists of teacher training programs, a community outreach center, and three schools serving Langa, Gugulethu (Cape Town), and Alexandra (Johannesburg).
