Below you will find various materials used in the month prior to the MCAS State examination itself. One piece focuses on formatting and presentation tips for the composition. Two documents help students summarize their “Focus Text”. One document is a work packet students can use to focus on Thesis and Supporting Idea writing based on a variety of different questions; this document could be expanded based on teacher needs. One document presents a series of potential MCAS questions to be used as part of a “Gameshow” to help students prepare theses on various topics. Finally, I’ve included a Powerpoint presentation that I showed my students on the day before they took the MCAS Long Composition itself. The documents are available in two formats:
- Microsoft Word .doc files that can be edited and used as a starting point for your own document
- Adobe Acrobat .pdf files that can be viewed but not edited.
Note that the final MCAS Essay Review is a Powerpoint presentation of about 275 K in size.
