Expository Writing: Graphic Organizers - Best Practices from CACPS

The following are graphic organizers used for both OR and COMP writing. For each genre, I’ve included two types of organizers: a basic one with space for each of the structural components of the piece, and a detailed one that guides students more explicitly through the writing steps. The organizers were always available to students and often required of students who were struggling with the writing structures. The organizers are available in two formats:

Microsoft Word .doc files that can be edited and used as a starting point for your own document
Adobe Acrobat .pdf files that can be viewed but not edited.
