Expository Writing: Notes - Best Practices from CACPS

I hope that the materials provided in these pages have been helpful. State standardized exams (whatever our opinions of their validity, equity, and usefulness) can sometimes create an opportunity for us as teachers to explicitly teach our students skills that will be helpful for them as they move through the academic and employment channels of their lives. At Codman we've tried to use the MCAS Long Composition as just such an opportunity, building engaging curriculum designed to teach our students to become powerful expository writers.
